For the second time this 2014 F1 season we see Ferrari's Fernando Alonso on top of the time table. The first practice session for the 2014 Chinese F1 Grand Prix was driven under cool conditions. It looks like this suites Ferrari's F14 T F1 car. only has some speed when temperatures are low.
Because of the long Shanghai circuit back straight and new 2014 power units, the top speeds will be very high this GP and are expected to touch 340 km/h. Nico Rosberg had the highest speed this session of 329.3 km/h. The German driver outperformed even Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton with almost 3 km/h. Alonso was 9 km/h slower than Rosberg, which makes his lap time even more special.
Last years 2013 Chinese GP 1st practice timetable showed a fastest lap time of 1:36,717. Which is only 3 seconds faster then the V6 version of today..
