2026 marks the most ambitious technical revolution Formula 1 has seen in over a decade. A complete overhaul of the power unit, lighter chassis design with active aerodynamics, and fully sustainable fuel become the new baseline. With Cadillac's debut as the 11th constructor and fresh engine manufacturers joining the grid, the competitive order is wide open. After Lando Norris's 2025 championship win, the 2026 title race promises a brand-new narrative across all 24 race weekends.

The 2026 power units split their output 50/50 between internal combustion and electric energy — a dramatic increase from the current ~20% electric contribution. Cars run on fully sustainable advanced fuels. The chassis is lighter and slightly smaller, with active aerodynamics that adjust between straight-line speed and cornering downforce modes. New engine manufacturers join the grid alongside the existing Ferrari, Mercedes, Honda and Renault programs. The combined effect is the biggest mid-decade reset in modern F1 history.

The 24-race calendar runs from March through December. Six weekends feature the sprint format with a Saturday sprint race alongside the main Sunday Grand Prix. The schedule includes returning classics like Monaco, Silverstone and Monza alongside newer venues like Miami and Las Vegas. Most race weekends use the standard Friday-practice / Saturday-qualifying / Sunday-race format; sprint weekends compress practice into a single Friday session.

All ten established teams compete in 2026 — Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, McLaren, Aston Martin, Alpine, Williams, RB, Stake F1 Team Sauber and Haas — joined by Cadillac as the new 11th constructor.
