Felipe Massa has said that he hopes to influence the outcome of Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and the destiny of the world championship.
One of the Mercedes pair, Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg, will be crowned world champion and are expected to fight it out at the front.
However Massa, and his Williams team-mate Valtteri Bottas, are at the wheel of the second fastest car on the grid and could have a crucial role to play.
Massa said: “I hope we can be there; I hope we can be in a position to fight and to put our car in the fight with the Mercedes.
“It will not be easy, anyway- it will be difficult because we didn’t see that so much this year. We’ll try, we’ll try everything we can to achieve the best results we can for us.”
Massa has had a frustrating year in comparison to his team-mate, who is earning rave reviews for a fine season. Massa has had a series of reliability issues and bad luck, but bounced back with an impressive third in his native Brazil in the last race.
