Whitmarsh and McLaren finally part company

McLaren and Martin Whitmarsh, who was team principle for four years, have formally parted company according to AUTOSPORT.

Whitmarsh was a victim of the new McLaren regime, put into motion by Ron Dennis who returned as CEO of the McLaren Group this year. Whitmarsh left his role in January and was replaced by Jonathan Neale and Eric Boullier.

Whitmarsh remained under contract with the team despite being frozen out. Now it seems an announcement is forthcoming as the report reveals that Dennis and Whitmarsh have agreed on a “generous” settlement package.

McLaren told the publication that a parting of the ways has been agreed.

Talks have been ongoing all year between Dennis and Whitmarsh, who worked for McLaren for 24 years in a variety of roles.

Whitmarsh replaced Dennis as team principle in 2010 However, he failed to oversee a world title campaign and, after a poor 2013, his time was up.
