Mark WEBBER won his 4th F1 World Championship race at the 2010 Monaco F1 GP, a second consecutive victory to take the championship lead. The Red Bull driver started from pole and won on the streets of Monte Carlo by 0.448 seconds from teammate Sebastian Vettel after a safety car neutralised the closing laps. It was Red Bulls 8th F1 win.

Webber pole again, Red Bull two-in-a-row

Monte Carlo on 16 May 2010 saw Mark Webber take his second consecutive pole with a 1:13.826 lap, Kubica a superb second for Renault, Vettel third, Massa fourth for Ferrari. Schumacher qualified only ninth on his Monaco return, hampered by traffic in Q3.

Race day: Webber controls, late safety cars, championship swings

Webber controlled the race from lights out, managing his tyres and traffic across 78 laps in typical Monaco fashion. A late safety car for a stranded Trulli, then another for debris, closed the field but did not disturb the front. Vettel second for a Red Bull 1-2, Kubica third for Renault, Massa fourth, Hamilton fifth for McLaren, Alonso sixth after starting from pit lane following a Q3 crash. Vettel set the fastest lap on lap 71 at 1:15.192.

Championship: Webber 78, Button 70, Alonso 75

Two wins in two rounds vaulted Webber to the top of the championship. Six drivers had won six of the first six races; the season was living up to the paddocks pre-year projection that up to five teams could win. Turkey in a fortnight would be next.
