George Russell will start the 2026 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix from pole position, and history suggests that is a very handy place to be. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has traditionally rewarded track position more than most venues, with 25 of its 35 Formula 1 races won from pole, a conversion rate of 71.4%.
Russell therefore holds the statistical advantage, but with Lewis Hamilton alongside him on the front row, Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris tucked in behind, and tyre degradation expected to play a major role in the Spanish heat, this is unlikely to be a simple Sunday cruise from the front.
