Liam Lawson Biography
Liam Lawson, a rising star in the world of motorsports, showcased his exceptional prowess as he triumphantly held the winner's trophy at the Bahrain circuit. This victory marked a spectacular debut in the Formula 2 racing arena, setting an exhilarating tone for the commencement of the racing season. Remarkably, this accomplishment adds to a string of eight out of nine instances where he clinched victory during his maiden races in novel car categories.
The seeds of his ambition to dominate the racetrack at the highest echelons were sown during his early encounters with karting at the local Mt Wellington kart track in Auckland. From those nascent moments, Liam's heart was set on the pursuit of speed and victory, a determination that has fueled his journey.
Liam's trajectory to success was punctuated by notable wins during his debut races in Formula First and Formula Ford. Notably, he achieved an unprecedented feat of winning all fifteen championship races in the Formula Ford category.
A pivotal juncture arrived when Liam reached the age of fifteen, outgrowing the avenues of Formula racing in New Zealand. To propel his career forward, he ventured to Australia where the age eligibility for Formula 4 provided a fitting platform. Merely two months after celebrating his fifteenth birthday, he claimed victory in his debut race in the Australian Formula 4 circuit.
Upon crossing the threshold of sixteen, Liam set his sights on Europe, the heart of single-seater competition. Relocating from his homeland of New Zealand to the Netherlands, he made an indelible mark in the ADAC F4 series, securing the position of vice champion. The subsequent year witnessed his migration to England, a move that remains his base to this day. This transition was accompanied by his participation in dual championships within the same year, namely the EFO (Formula 3) championship and the inaugural FIA F3 season.

During the European off-season, Liam twice returned to his roots in New Zealand to partake in the Toyota Racing Series. The debut races in these series saw him clinch victory and ultimately secure the coveted series championship in 2019. The subsequent year, he exhibited his adaptability by securing the second position in the series, a commendable achievement considering the debut of a new racing car.
The pivotal moment of being designated as a Red Bull Junior Driver arrived on his seventeenth birthday, a testament to his prodigious talent. Liam's partnership with Red Bull paved the way for his endeavors in Europe, encompassing his journey through EFO, FIA F3, and his current foray into the FIA F2 championship.
Liam Lawson's narrative is one defined by a relentless pursuit of excellence, underscored by his exceptional victories in debut races across diverse continents and car categories. As he continues to make his mark on the F1 racing scene, his journey stands as an inspiration to aspiring racers and a testament to the enduring spirit of motorsports.
Lawson's F1 debut was during the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix. He had to substitute Daniel Ricciardo for the AlphaTauri team after Ricciardo broke a bone in his left hand during a crash in 2nd practice.
He scored points in his third Formula 1 Grand Prix, finishing ninth in the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix on September 17.
Lawson had qualified in 10th place for the event. As Ricciardo returned for the US Grand Prix, Lawson's good effort in 2023 ended with good grades in five races.
