Circuito del Jarama, located north of Madrid, Spain, was designed by Dutchman John Hugenholtz and opened in 1967. The tight, twisty 3.404 km layout hosted nine Spanish Grands Prix between 1968 and 1981 and was famous for being extremely difficult to overtake on. The 1981 Spanish GP saw Gilles Villeneuve hold off four faster cars for the closest 1-5 finish in F1 history (1.24 seconds covering all five).

01 Bugatti
A tight low-speed right-hander after the start-finish straight. The only realistic overtaking opportunity during the circuit's F1 era.
02 Le Mans
A flowing medium-speed double-apex right at the back of the lap. The high-quality corner that made the otherwise tight circuit interesting for drivers.
03 Final Hairpin
A slow right-hand hairpin onto the main straight, named for being the slowest corner of the lap. Exit speed defined the entire main DRS-era equivalent.
