2014 world champion Lewis Hamilton has said that he must be a stronger driver next year if he is going to keep his Mercedes team-mate, Nico Rosberg, behind.
Hamilton and Rosberg enjoyed a season long fight for the championship, which the Englishman clinched at the final race in Abu Dhabi to add to the world championship he won with McLaren in 2008.
Speaking at the FIA’s end of season awards dinner, Hamilton also singled out Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo and his old nemesis, Fernando Alonso, as ones to watch next year after they both outperformed their respective cars in 2014.
He said: “Daniel Ricciardo has been doing an amazing job. It will be interesting to see what Fernando does in his car.
“Nico’s going to come back stronger and I’ll have to make sure I come back even stronger to stay ahead of him.”
Reports suggest that Mercedes will, once again, be the class of the field in 2015 as they look to improve upon their dominant 2014 car.
The 2015 season gets underway in Australia in March.
