Tap-to-pay meets flat-out: McLaren Racing has announced that Mastercard will become the Official Naming Partner of the McLaren Formula 1 Team from 2026, ushering in a fan-first era that promises unprecedented access and experiences. From the start of the 2026 season, the outfit will run as the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team.

At the heart of the expanded partnership is a new global initiative called Team Priceless, a curated programme designed to pull McLaren’s Papaya faithful even closer to the action. We’re talking proper, pinch-yourself moments: selected fans getting hot laps, meet-and-greets with the drivers, and bespoke experiences that spotlight each host city’s local culture throughout the race calendar. McLaren says details on how to get involved, including the recruitment process, are coming soon.

A launch party in Papaya Orange

To kick things off, Mastercard is throwing a live fan event in Amsterdam this evening (Wednesday, 27 August) ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix. Expect a lively mix of appearances from Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, plus live music and a few surprises, exactly the kind of energy you want rolling into Zandvoort weekend.

“Fans first”, and not just as a slogan

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown framed the deal around the people in the grandstands and at home. As he put it, there’s no one more important than McLaren’s “awesome fans,” and this partnership is engineered to bring them closer to the team while delivering seriously memorable experiences, with Team Priceless set to hit the grid in 2026.

From Mastercard’s side, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Raja Rajamannar highlighted the shared DNA: innovation, precision and performance. Elevating to Official Naming Partner is the natural next step in a relationship built on putting fans in pole position, with the promise of “winning experiences” on and off the track.

What it means for 2026 (and why fans should care)

  • New name, same relentless push: As the sport pivots to its next rules era in 2026, pairing McLaren with Mastercard at name level signals long-term backing and a clear focus on fan engagement as a competitive edge.

  • Access that goes beyond a paddock selfie: Team Priceless isn’t just a paddock club wristband, it’s a slate of on-track thrills and city-flavoured adventures that make attending a Grand Prix feel personal.

  • Papaya pride, amplified: Expect the partnership to show up across car, kit and live experiences, turning the Papaya family’s weekend into more than just a race day.

Keep an eye out
