All Info You Need Before the 2025 Dutch GP Starts
The Dutch Grand Prix will be the 15th round of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
It is pretty clear now, McLaren looks untouchable, with championship leader Oscar Piastri leading his teammate, Lando Norris, by nine points in the Drivers' standings.
To add to the concerns of the rest of the grid and their chances of winning, McLaren dominated the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix with Norris beating Red Bull's home hero Max Verstappen by 22 seconds. Norris had also grabbed Pole Position by close to four tenths.

McLaren has won 11 of the 14 races in 2025, with Piastri leading his teammate 6 to 5. Norris is on a good run, however, as he's won three of the last four races.
Ferrari is coming from grabbing Pole Position with Charles Leclerc in Hungary, but the race did not go as planned, with Leclerc only fourth and Lewis Hamilton finishing out of the points. Mercedes recovered a bit with George Russell's third place at Hungary and Kimi Antonelli scoring a point after three scoreless outings.
Red Bull also struggled in the most recent race, with reigning world champion Max Verstappen only ninth in the race, with Yuki Tsunoda in 17th place.

The Dutch Grand Prix will be on the Formula 1 calendar for the fifth time since 1985, after a successful return in the 2021 F1 World Championship season.
Sunday’s race will be the 37th edition of the GP, and the 35th as a part of the Formula 1 World Championship (only the first two races in the Netherlands were non-championship races).
The event has seen historical moments, such as James Hunt's first Grand Prix win for Hesketh in 1975 and Niki Lauda's 25th and final Grand Prix win for McLaren in 1985.
Tragic situations also showed up in the Dutch Grand Prix, with two-time podium finisher Piers Courage losing his life in the 1970 race after a crash. Roger Williamson, a British driver for March, crashed and could not escape his burning car, ultimately dying from asphyxiation in the 1973 event. Driving another March, David Purley pulled up and got out of his car to try and move Williamson’s car, which was upside-down, but all attempts were not enough.
The marshals did not do a good job, but they really could not try much, as they did not have fire-retardant overalls, proving the organization of the race was far from ideal.

The most successful driver in the Dutch Grand Prix is Jim Clark. The legendary two-time F1 champion won the Dutch Grand Prix four times between 1963 and 1967 with Lotus. Sir Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda and Max Verstappen follow Clark in the list, with three wins apiece, while every other driver who has won more than once at the Netherlands was a World Champion.
Dutch driver Max Verstappen won from 2021 to 2023 after starting in Pole Position. The Dutchman's three straight wins at Zandvoort equaled Clark's record (three consecutive wins from 1963 to 1965).
In terms of team wins, Ferrari leads Lotus with eight victories to six. McLaren is third with four wins, ahead of Red Bull's 3, while Mercedes and Williams have one win each at Zandvoort. Mercedes won with Juan Manuel Fangio in 1955, while Williams did so with Alan Jones in 1979.
Circuit Zandvoort
Zandvoort has held every Dutch Grand Prix to date, and the revamped circuit is a challenging one. Although the circuit has a twisty layout, we've seen some thrilling battles in the last four events, coupled with unpredictable weather in 2023.
The original Zandvoort was designed by Jarno Zaffelli, and the track was opened in 1948.
It hosted the Dutch Grand Prix from 1950 to 1985, except for four events that were not celebrated due to financial issues or safety concerns.

This year’s race will be the 37th Dutch Grand Prix celebrated at Circuit Zandvoort and the 35th that has been a part of the Formula 1 World Championship.
High downforce is essential at the circuit due to its 14 corners, but the balance will again be key to have enough speed throughout the 678-meter main straight.
The final section of the circuit is amazing, as seeing Formula 1 cars taking the banked final corner at high speeds is truly unique. The banking on the final corner is at 18 degrees and it was initially thought of as a part of the second DRS zone (main straight), but the FIA and the organizers decided against it.
The track was scheduled to return to F1 in 2020, with the event expected to be held in May. However, the Covid-19 pandemic changed the situation, and Zandvoort returned in 2021 with a successful event. The event has been run flawlessly in the following years, but is expected to fall out of the F1 calendar after 2026.
The current layout is 4.259-km long and the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix will have 72 laps. The race distance will be 306.587 km if the Grand Prix is completed.
The current lap record was set in 2021, with Sir Lewis Hamilton putting up a 1:11.097 min lap in the race.
2025 Dutch Grand Prix - Tyres
The dry tyres for the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix will be the C2 as P Zero White hard, C3 as P Zero Yellow Medium, and C4 as P Zero Red soft.
Pirelli, which will celebrate its 500th Grand Prix, explained its choice with a press release: "For the race in the Netherlands, Pirelli has gone a step softer in terms of compounds than last year. The teams will have a choice of the C2 as Hard, the C3 as Medium and the C4 as Soft, whereas in 2024 the available compounds were C1, C2 and C3.
"The decision, taken in conjunction with the FIA and the championship promoter, has the aim of increasing the likelihood of a strategy based on two stops, rather than just the one-stop, which has been the predominant choice since this race returned to the calendar in 2022.
"A further step in this direction stems from the FIA’s decision to increase the pit lane speed limit from 60 to 80 km/h, thus reducing the time taken for a pit stop.
"According to simulations provided by the teams, the one-stop is still quickest, partly because overtaking is notoriously difficult at Zandvoort, with very few straights apart from the main one, combined with the fact the whole track is quite narrow."
In 2024
"Sixteen drivers lined up on the grid on the Medium tyre, while three, Hamilton, Tsunoda and Bottas went for the Soft, with Magnussen starting from the pit lane on Hards.
"Three quarters of the field made just one stop during the race, taking on the Hard as the second set, while Magnussen went with the Medium. The Mercedes pair pitted twice – Hamilton used two sets of C3 and Russell one – while the remaining three, Tsunoda, Bottas and Zhou, ran all three available compounds, with Albon choosing to run Medium, Hard, Medium.
"Hulkenberg drove the longest stint of all, completing 57 laps on the Hard. Piastri topped the list with the Medium on 33 laps, while Hamilton ran 24 on the Soft."
The minimum starting pressures for the tyres will be 25.0 PSI (front) and 22.5 PSI (rear).

McLaren will likely be untouchable at Zandvoort, even in the rain. The MCL39 will give its drivers another chance of winning and take steps towards the championship.
Coming off a solid win at Hungary under pressure, Norris could continue the trend at Zandvoort and win it for a second consecutive year.
Home hero Max Verstappen should find himself performing well at a special track for him, and with some rain, he will be a candidate to win.
