Toro Rosso rookie Max Verstappen has said that he feels confident ahead of his F1 debut this weekend.

The 17-year-old was a shock choice to drive for Red Bull’s B team this season, but he has impressed the team during winter testing.

Toro Rosso hit their targets during the close season and Verstappen says that he feels good in the car.

He told Sky Sports: “I think they were quite happy. There is still a lot to learn, but I think at the moment it is all going in the right direction.

“I think so far we have done a good job, reliability is there and we could do a lot of laps, so I am feeling quite good. I’ve felt really good in the car and I think that is important before you go to Melbourne. So I feel prepared.”

Verstappen is joined at Toro Rosso by fellow rookie Carlos Sainz Jr.
