The Long Beach Street Circuit, threading through the harbour district of Long Beach, California, hosted the United States Grand Prix West from 1976 to 1983. The 3.275 km layout (original F1 configuration) wound past the convention centre and the Queen Mary ocean liner. Conceived by Chris Pook as the \"Monaco of America\", it remains an iconic IndyCar venue today after losing F1 hosting to costs.

History

Key corners

01 Linden Avenue Hairpin

A tight slow hairpin at the end of the longest straight, the primary overtaking opportunity during the F1 era. Heavy braking from over 280 km/h on a dirty street surface.

02 Queen Mary turn

A medium-speed right-hander running alongside the Queen Mary ocean liner moored in Long Beach harbour — providing one of the most distinctive backdrops in 1970s motor racing.

03 Fountain

A flowing left-right complex past the convention center fountain. The corner sequence that defined the technical character of the circuit.
