The first practice for the 2019 Brazilian GP started out very wet. Only 4 cars were driving around in the first half an hour because of rain showers early in the session.

This time Robert Kubica had to step aside for Nicholas Latifi, who drove the Williams this session.

The rain stopped and the track dried slowly At first the cars that went out were all fitted with the blue Pirelli full wets. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was fastest on those tyres.

An hour into the session the drivers that already clocked lap times on Interlagos switched to the quicker intermediate tyres and a lot more drivers dared do go out to put a lap time on the leaderboard.

5 minutes before the end of FP1 the track seemed to be dry enough to even try out the slick tyres. Both Red Bull drivers also switched to slick tyres. Max Verstappen did drive a lap time yet had a harsh moment when I wanted to push for a good lap time right away made an error in the Senna esses and spun off and was able to go on without any damage.

His team mate Alexander Albon even made a bigger error and crashed in to the barrier after he slid across the grass trying to correct a snap oversteer in turn 12. He wrecked the right front of the RB15 and caused a red flag period that ended this first practice session. Not all driver were able to record a lap time because of that.

Last years quickest lap time was driven by Max Verstappen in the Red Bull. He then clocked 1:09.011.
