The final qualifying session of the year also was driven on a wet Interlagos circuit. Because Q1 started quite dry and the weather forecast showed it would rain harder soon, all cars went out as soon as the session started. Because Maldonado and Gutierrez started to late, they could not make it into Q2.
Because of a crash of Sergio Pérez with his McLaren the qualifying session Q3 was postponed by 40 minutes. In Q3 Sebastian Vettel took his 45th pole position of his F1 career by smashing the competition by 0,7 sec gap.
