Zeltweg Airfield, a 3.200 km layout marked out on the runways and taxiways of the Hinterstoisser Air Base in Styria, Austria, hosted the one-off 1964 Austrian Grand Prix. The brutal concrete-and-tarmac surface broke wheel mountings and suspensions in record numbers — only nine cars finished out of twenty starters. F1 abandoned the airfield permanently and the Austrian Grand Prix moved to the nearby Österreichring in 1970.

History
Zeltweg Circuit History
An unpopular and bumpy airfield circuit which ran races from 1958 until it was superseded by the Österreichring (and latterly the A1-Ring) in 1969.
After running international sportscar and Formula 2 races, the organisers secured a World Championship Grand Prix in 1964. The bumpy surface played havoc with the cars and many fell by the wayside, leaving Lorenzo Bandini to take his only win for Ferrari.
