Pierluigi Martini, born on April 23, 1961, in Lugo, Italy, is a former Italian Formula One racing driver who competed in the sport from 1984 to 1995.

Martini began his racing career in go-karts before moving up to Formula 3 and then Formula 2. He made his F1 debut in 1984 with the Toleman team and quickly established himself as a talented driver.

In 1987, Martini joined the Minardi team, where he would spend the majority of his F1 career. Despite driving for a backmarker team, Martini was able to achieve several top-ten finishes and even scored a podium at the 1991 United States Grand Prix.

Martini was known for his consistent performances and excellent racecraft, and his talents did not go unnoticed by other teams. He had a brief stint with the Scuderia Italia team in 1992 before returning to Minardi in 1993.

Martini's F1 career came to an end in 1995 when he was unable to secure a drive for the season. He retired with 119 Grand Prix starts and 18 championship points.

After retiring from F1, Martini continued to race in various series, including the Italian Touring Car Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours. He also became involved in driver management and driver development programs.
