Sebring International Raceway, located on a former WWII airfield in Sebring, Florida, hosted its only Formula 1 World Championship round — the 1959 United States Grand Prix, where Bruce McLaren became the youngest F1 race winner at age 22 (a record held for over 40 years). The 8.369 km airfield-based layout used the concrete runways as part of the track, producing brutal tyre wear that still characterises Sebring sports-car racing today.
