Tyrrell MP4-1 Andrea de Cesaris at Monaco (1983)

Andrea de Cesaris was a talented Italian racing driver who competed in Formula One from 1980 to 1994. He was born on May 31, 1959, in Rome, Italy, and began his racing career in karting before moving up to Formula 3.

De Cesaris made his Formula One debut in 1980 with Alfa Romeo and soon established himself as a fast and fearless driver. Despite his natural talent, he often struggled with reliability issues and bad luck, earning him the nickname "Andrea de Crasheris."

However, de Cesaris never lost his love for racing, and he continued to compete in Formula One for 14 seasons, driving for teams such as McLaren, Ligier, and Jordan. He recorded a total of 208 Grand Prix starts and 5 podium finishes.

One of de Cesaris's most memorable moments came at the 1982 Monaco Grand Prix, where he was leading the race by a considerable margin before crashing out on the final lap. He later said that he was distracted by the beautiful view of the harbor and lost concentration for a split second.

Despite his reputation for crashes and bad luck, de Cesaris was widely respected in the paddock for his speed and determination. He continued to race in other series, including sports cars and touring cars, after retiring from Formula One in 1994.

Sadly, de Cesaris died in a motorcycle accident in 2014, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of his fans and fellow racers. He will always be remembered as a talented and fearless driver who never gave up on his passion for racing.
