Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo has insisted that his weekend could still end positively despite an engine failure in practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Australian finished third quickest in second practice behind his team-mate Daniil Kvyat and world champion Lewis Hamilton, hinting that the team will be competitive this weekend.
However, familiar problems returned during the session as Ricciardo was forced to pull his car over as smoke poured out of the engine.
It is understood that it is not the engine he was planning on using on Sunday, but is it still a blow to his weekend.
However, he told BBC Sport: "It would have been nice to finish the session but the time we were out there was positive. I won't get too excited but looking at our competitiveness today we look to be back on the right track."
Red Bull’s woes with the Renault engine have been well documented, and it is expected that they will have a new supplier next year.
