Nico Hulkenberg is allowed to join a bigger team if an offer comes in, says Force India deputy team principal Bob Fernley.
The German driver seemed destined for great things when he made an impressive debut in 2010 but his career has stalled in the past couple of years.
However, Ferrari have been heavily linked with the 28-year-old and Fernley said they won’t stand in his way if a bigger team comes in.
He told AUTOSPORT: "Nico signing for another two years was all about continuity from our side, to be able to keep a team together that is obviously now a successful partnership.
"That's where we want to stay with it, but does that mean if an offer came through from a championship-winning team it wouldn't be considered?
"I'm sure Vijay [Mallya, team principal] would use the same foresight and vision as he did for the Le Mans decision."
