Norris says Sainz is better than Ricciardo with 'not nice' cars
May 21 - Lando Norris says his previous teammate was better than Daniel Ricciardo at adapting to a difficult-to-drive Formula 1 car.
Australian Ricciardo's struggle to get up to speed at McLaren this year was amplified on the streets of Monaco in Thursday practice.
"You need a very specific driving style to be fast with this car," said the struggling 31-year-old, whose teammate Norris has just received a new two-year contract.
Ricciardo, who is thought to currently earn millions more than Norris, is also staying at McLaren next year.
"Daniel is very, very fast when he has a car around him, when everything suits him," Norris, 21, said at Monaco.
"But as soon as there's a couple of problems, he tends to lose that bit of confidence, just as most drivers do. That's just something that some drivers have more than others. It's a confidence thing," said the Briton.
"From what I've seen so far, he wants a car that really suits him, maybe that little bit more."
According to Norris, Ricciardo's predecessor Carlos Sainz - who is also getting up to speed in 2021 after switching to Ferrari - is better at adapting to a new car.
"Carlos was good at driving a car which wasn't always that nice to drive," he said. "He was very good at that.
"I think that's just one of the things I have learned at the moment."

Ricciardo is beginning to be known as a journey man, more interested in money than being in the best car or improving the team. Lucky Norris doesn't need the money otherwise DR getting more money might grate.
I doubt that RIC is ready to do a GRO/HUL just yet. Let's wait 'til summer break to write him off. The guy is a very good racer. Aussies get some slack.
No, I don't think Dr is more interested in money than being in the best car. He left RB b/c he felt was becoming the #2 driver with the #2 car. He went to Mclaten b/c they have a beter car and program than Cyril had... and also b/c Cyril never got his tat.
Lando doesnt need the money either , his dads worth about 300 Million, hes in the billionaire club Lulus banging on about, weirdly he doesnt seem to get the stick the others do, so his results are down to talent and not cash in F1.............out of the young guns , previous racing series results wise GR has the best record though but im not sure about his family wealth though .
I live in PERTH Western AUSTRALIA, just a few clicks up road from Danni Rics, As for JOURNEY MAN comments, some drivers arrive into F1 at the wrong time, to mention two both D/R and Mark Webber are amongst them....Think about a few more...and you will come up with Sir Sterling Moss, ONE OF THE GREATEST DRIVERS OF ALL TIME....and never won an F1 Championship...regardless of how many Championships Sir Lewy wins, he will never be up there with Moss
