## Aston Martin AMR26: Honda Power and a Fresh Start
The [Aston Martin](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-teams/aston-martin-f1-team-information-statistics/) AMR26 is the [Silverstone](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-circuits/silverstone-circuit/)-based team's challenger for the 2026 Formula 1 season, and it arrives at one of the most significant moments in the team's recent history. For the first time since the team's rebranding from [Racing Point](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-teams/racing-point-f1-team-information-statistics/) in 2021, Aston Martin has switched power unit supplier, ending their relationship with [Mercedes](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-teams/mercedes/) and beginning a new chapter with Honda as their engine partner. With [Fernando Alonso](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-drivers/fernando-alonso/) and [Lance Stroll](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-drivers/lance-stroll-information-statistics/) continuing as drivers, the AMR26 is built around the new 2026 technical regulations and represents the team's most ambitious engineering project to date.
## Alonso Leads Aston Martin's Title Ambitions
The comprehensive reset of the technical regulations in 2026 provides every team on the grid with an equal opportunity to redefine their competitive standing. For Aston Martin, whose 2024 and 2025 seasons proved difficult after the stellar 2023 campaign, the new regulations represent a genuine chance to return to the front of the midfield and beyond. The team's expanded Silverstone facility, including a new wind tunnel and an significantly enlarged technical staff, has been focused on the AMR26's development for over two years, making this one of the most thoroughly prepared projects in the team's history.
Fernando Alonso, one of Formula 1's greatest ambassadors and a relentlessly competitive force even in his 40s, brings his legendary racecraft and technical feedback to the AMR26. His partnership with Honda, the manufacturer with whom he famously struggled at [McLaren](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-teams/mclaren/) in 2015-2017 but who have since returned as a championship-winning force with [Red Bull](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-teams/red-bull-racing/), adds an intriguing subplot to the season. Lance Stroll, a valuable driver whose experience in high-pressure championship environments is considerable, provides a complementary partner whose results frequently reflect the car's true potential.
