In a revealing conversation on the F1 Beyond The Grid podcast, Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane opens up to Tom Clarkson about his sudden departure from Alpine in 2023, describing it as both "devastating" and a "defining moment." After spending over 30 years at Team Enstone, where he won championships with [Michael Schumacher](https://www.f1-fansite.com/f1-drivers/michael-schumacher/) and Fernando Alonso, Permane's dismissal ultimately paved the way for his first Team Principal role – the biggest job of his career. One year into leading Racing Bulls, Permane reflects on why the role initially felt unnatural for an engineer who never sought the top job, how he's risen to the challenge, and the changes he's implemented at the team.
