Gire 1 a 3
La primera curva llega al final de la recta 1km en la que las velocidades alcanzarán su punto máximo en más de 300km / h. Por lo tanto, el automóvil y el motor están sujetos a fuertes cargas de frenado, ya que el conductor friega con 50% de esa velocidad para tomar la primera curva a aproximadamente 140km / h.
A mitad del Turno 1, los conductores comienzan a acelerar hacia Turn 2 y Turn 3 (también conocido como Renault) pero como Circuito de cataluña comienza a trepar un automóvil tendrá una tendencia hacia el sobreviraje "ágil". Tener una demora en la respuesta del motor o un exceso en la entrega de torsión solo confirmará esta tendencia, lo que aumentará el desgaste de las llantas a medida que el automóvil trata de deslizarse hacia un lado y somete las llantas a fuerza lateral.

Una vez que pasa por Turn 9, la pista comienza a descender hacia Turn 10. La zona de frenado de esta esquina es la más difícil de la pista, ya que los autos llegan a 300km / hy giran a solo 70km / h. Para proporcionar la estabilidad adecuada, los ingenieros trabajan muy duro en la configuración de sobreactuación, tratando de frenar el motor de manera neutral cuando el conductor no usa el acelerador.
En paralelo, los ingenieros intentarán hacer que los cambios de marcha hacia abajo sean lo más suaves posible para que el cambio del gradiente de par se limite y no sea demasiado agresivo. Dar cambios descendentes suaves y el nivel correcto de sobremarcha resultará en un mejor equilibrio, lo que ayudará a controlar el bloqueo de las ruedas y minimizará el desgaste de las llantas. Al final de la curva, el conductor ha bajado en primera, pero necesita acelerar hill. Esto envía cargas enormes a través de los neumáticos, por lo que los mapas de pedales a menudo se diseñan teniendo en cuenta esta esquina.
Gire 14 a 16
La chicane en esta pista es muy lenta y necesita, nuevamente, la cantidad correcta de torque del motor, no solo en la entrada de la esquina sino en el punto medio de la chicane. De hecho, el conductor simplemente activará el acelerador entre la entrada y la salida de la chicane cuando cambie de dirección.
Incluso si él está solo en el poder durante un milisegundo, equilibrar el auto en este borde de la cuchilla es fundamental para mantener el auto equilibrado, minimizar el giro de las ruedas y finalmente ganar tiempo de vuelta.
Una vez que los autos salen de esta chicane, la tracción es muy importante ya que la velocidad se llevará a cabo a través de la curva 16, y el conductor finalmente usará el KERS en la recta final.
